Ericka Menchen-Trevino grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated with her B.S. from Loyola University Chicago in 2001 with a major in anthropology and minors in fine art photography and English. She received her M.A. in communication in 2006 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has worked as an ethnographic research assistant, a grant writer, an IT support writer, and web designer. She is a PhD Student in the School of Communication at Northwestern University in the Media Technology and Society program. Her research interests include information seeking on the web, and the online news environment.
